The Essenes of Discipleship

One of our most important responsibilities as Christ's followers is to become disciples of Jesus.

Discipleship entails not only believing in Jesus but also obeying his teachings, modelling our lives after him, and becoming his devoted disciples. In this blog, we will look at the fundamentals of discipleship and how we can apply them in our daily lives.

The first essential is faith in Jesus Christ.

The first requirement for discipleship is belief in Jesus Christ. We must trust in him as our Lord and Saviour and believe that he died on the cross to atone for our sins. Our faith in Jesus distinguishes us as Christians and serves as the foundation for our discipleship journey.

Submission to God's Will is essential number two.

Submission to God's will is the second essential of discipleship. We must be willing to give up our desires and plans in order to follow God's leading. This necessitates a teachable and humble spirit that is open to God's guidance and direction. We can accomplish this by regularly studying God's word, praying, and seeking wise counsel from other believers.

The third essential is a disciplined life.

A disciplined life is the third essential of discipleship. As Jesus' disciples, we must make a concerted effort to live a life that pleases God. Making daily decisions to avoid sin, obey God's commands, and pursue righteousness is part of this. We must also make time to spend with God in prayer, Bible study, and worship.

Fellowship with other believers is essential number four.

Fellowship with other believers is the fourth essential of discipleship. We are not meant to travel this path alone. To grow in our faith and become more like Christ, we need the support, encouragement, and accountability of other Christians. We can find this fellowship by attending church on a regular basis, as well as small group meetings and other Christian events.

The Fifth Essential: Sharing the Gospel

The final requirement of discipleship is to share the gospel with others. Jesus told us to go and make disciples of all nations, which is an essential part of our discipleship journey. We must be willing to share the good news of Jesus with those who are unfamiliar with him, demonstrating his love and compassion through our words and actions.

As disciples of Jesus, we must embrace the essentials of discipleship and apply them to our daily lives in order to grow closer to Him and become more like Him.
